This is the shrine
to St. Therese of the Child Jesus (1873-1879).
Also known as Therese of Lisieux and The
Little Flower, St. Therese was canonised by
Pope Pius XI in 1925. There are scenes from
the life of St. Therese in the six panels at
either side of the statue. They show the saint at
prayer; at a Eucharistic procession; receiving
Holy Communion; petitioning the Pope to be
allowed enter the Carmelites, though only 15
years; on her sick bed and finally her death.
This shrine is to the right after entering the Cathedral.
